Two nutrients on the Vasoryn Supplement Facts panel come with their own printed amounts and Daily Values: Vitamin B3 (Niacin) at 20mg and Zinc at 11mg. Here's why they're in the formula and what those numbers mean. See how they fit the whole formula on the official Vasoryn guide.
Niacin is a B vitamin your body turns into NAD and NADP, two helper molecules involved in more than 400 reactions, many of them about turning food into energy. It also plays a role in keeping cells, including the cells lining your blood vessels, working normally. Vasoryn's 20mg equals 125% of the Daily Value.
Zinc is a mineral that supports immune function, cell repair and the work of hundreds of enzymes. It also helps protect cells from everyday oxidative stress. Vasoryn's 11mg equals 100% of the Daily Value.
From the Vasoryn Supplement Facts panel. Daily Values: niacin 16mg, zinc 11mg. Both amounts sit below the adult upper limits of 35mg (supplemental niacin) and 40mg (zinc) set by the NIH.
Higher doses of niacin can cause a harmless but uncomfortable warm, red, tingly feeling in the skin called a flush. At 20mg, Vasoryn stays well under the level where this usually happens, though very sensitive people may still notice mild warmth. Taking your capsule with food can help.
You'll find niacin in chicken, tuna, salmon, peanuts and brown rice. Zinc is highest in oysters, beef, crab, pumpkin seeds and chickpeas. The NIH fact sheets on niacin and zinc list many more. If you already take a multivitamin, add up the niacin and zinc from both products and share the totals with your doctor.
